Tennis in Now Open with Certain RULES

June 5, 2021, Doubles tennis is now allowed in Ottawa!

After consultation with the City of Ottawa’s legal department, By-Law and Ottawa Public Health, the decision was made to allow doubles tennis play with the caveats that players maintain 2m distancing at all times. 

Ottawa Public Health also encourages everyone to keep activities limited to people within your household.

May 20, 2021, the Province of Ontario announced a Roadmap to Reopen Reopening Ontario | Ontario.ca, a three-step plan to safely and cautiously reopen the province and gradually lift public health measures. The plan is based on the provincewide vaccination rate and improvements in key public health and health care indicators. Until we move to Step 1 of the roadmap, we must all continue to follow the rules and public health measures under the provincewide emergency brake. 

Maximum Capacities and Physical Distancing 

  • Members are asked to respect a maximum of 2 players per court max number.  
  • Physical distancing of 2m must be followed at all times. 

Type of Play 

  • No team sports or lessons, no classes are permitted until we move to Step 1. 
  • No leagues or tournaments

Lighting

  • Court lighting is not activated in all City parks. CITY Staff are working to complete this over the next week. 

Court Repairs

  • RTC has power washed the courts
  • COURT CANADA has been hired a number of weeks ago to repair the cracks on the courts.  The company is very busy. When the crack repairs begin at RTC, the website booking tool will be closed for a couple few days to allow for the repair work.

DAILY Screening FORM

  • Further to City of OTTAWA requirements, Please NOTE that it is MANDATORY that  the Daily Screening Form is submitted EVERY time you play ON THE DAY that you play.  The City requires the RTC to monitor and retain these forms
  • Given the severity of COVID-19, If you do not follow this requirement, your membership will be REVOKED
